– Taking a train from Moscow to St.Petersburg...

Who says it is easy? Well, yeah, it is...but you might not catch the train in time if you go to the wrong station! After a perfect trip in Moscow, we booked a high speed train called “Sapsan” to St.Petersburg on https://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en. The next morning, we prepared everything and left the hostel quite early.

“We made it to the train with 5 minutes left to spare. It was hard to breath...”

On our tickets, it says that it departs from “MOSKVA OKTIABRSKAIA - > SANKT-PETERBURG GLAVNY”. We put the name of the station on Google maps and it appeared to be really close to where we stayed. We called Uber (Failed 2 times as the drivers just decided to cancel without telling us why) and when we were about to arrive, for some reasons, we felt the need to check on the internet again. Then, we found out that it was supposed to be another station called “Leningradsky Railway Station” which took us almost 40 minutes to get there.

We freaked out a bit but tried to ask the driver if he could take us there. His English was weak and he was hesitant at first but after we told him that we could pay for it as another ride, he accepted. He actually just asked us to pay a bit more than what it showed on Uber which was okay for us.

We finally arrived at the correct station (I don’t know why they don’t always provide slope paths for people with a big suitcase). We had to go through the security check but surely, it wasn’t as bad as the ones in China. We made it to the train with 5 minutes left to spare. It was hard to breath lol.

After a good run, we were so glad that we made it. The trip took around 4 hours. The seats were comfortable but not as much as the business class so it was hard to sleep. The internet on my phone didn’t work well during the trip at all. I killed time a bit by walking to the Bitro coach and buying something to eat. I could order food at my seat and I did...but it was nice to walk around.

After 4 hours, we arrived safely and again, no escalators to go up or down the metro station so this time we chose a bus. We walked outside and saw a nice shopping mall called Galleria. We took the bus no.3 in Ligovsky avenue, in front of the metro and Galleria. The bus then took a left turn onto Nevsky avenue until it reached Malaya Morskaya street, where we hopped off. From there we had a brief walk left before arriving at our hotel.

The room was way better than what we expected...I also enjoyed complimentary breakfast!

The hotel we stayed at was called Tchaikovsky House, which we found on Booking.com. It was super nice, including breakfast, except for the escalator, which the staff claimed to be ancient and so we couldn’t hold its doors at all. Quite scary, isn’t it?
